When hitting both in a 9.5 options I was getting between 9-10° of launch but spinning the ball around 3500-3600

RE: Reducing spin in driver

I was fit at Carl's Golfland up in Michigan since they were an adavanced fitter for Titleist. I am scheduled to go back next Friday so I'm gonna make it a point to stick to the titleist family since that is what I want and find the combo that works. Being an advanced fitter they should have more than the stock 5 offerings I would suspect.

RE: Reducing spin in driver

My fitter set my up with the 915D3 9.5 with a Aldila Rogue Black 70 Stiff and we go my spin between 2000 and 2500. 2600-2700 is pretty darn good.

RE: Reducing spin in driver

I was just recently fitted for a driver and tested both 917s and the pro also had a M2 for me to try. I had similar high spin numbers as you and we settled on the D3 8.5* with a Rogue Max 65 S. I hit it basically the same as the M2 with the same shaft. I knew I wanted to go with the Titleist but it was good to hit the TM for comparison.

RE: Reducing spin in driver

I would reccomend seeing when a Titleist rep may be doing fittings or a demo day in your area. I recently was just fitted for the 917 driver and fairway. They will fit you for the best Titleist product available for you. It was by far the best experience I have had! Also, the Rogue MAX shaft is what worked best for me. It lowered my backspin off the tee from 2300 to 2200 RPMs.

RE: Reducing spin in driver

Having had a complete success in getting fit for a 917 D2, an experienced fitter at an Advanced Fitting Center with a wider breadth of available shafts can find the magic combination. Many of the more successful fittings have gone in different directions from their previous Titleist drivers for shaft/loft combinations.

RE: Reducing spin in driver

I'm wondering if you tried the Rogue Max shaft in the 917? That might be your answer,

RE: Reducing spin in driver

You would need to try the D3 in the rouge max to confirm that the spin decrease was shaft and not head related. Just in my personal experience, the shaft affects spin more than the club head. I personally choose a club head for looks/feel/sound and then a shaft to tune the performance side. If you don't test the same shaft in 2 different heads then there's no way to know which club head is better for you. BTW, I too have extremely high spin rates with the diamana white 70. I was fitted for the Aldila Rogue Silver 60 at Oceanside and seen about 12 yards average increase in driver distance.
