The DCI Black set is 5-PW and I have been using AP1 8-PW for a couple years and it appears to be a tossup. Both sets are dialed in for lie angle and length. I haven't taken the 5 iron on the golf course yet because I had the work done AFTER the round; however, I took it to the park and was able to hit it reasonably well. Haven't done anything to the 3 and 4 irons because I use a 7 wood and 25* hybrid.

Understand one has to go 1 club stronger on the DCIs because of the lofts (AP1 PW is 45* and DCI 9 iron is 44*; AP1 8 iron is 37* and DCI 8 iron is 40*).

The DCI 6 iron and my SQ 7-34 get the same distance. So my plan is to leave the 5 and 6 in the bag with the hybrids as backup. I can also do a side by side of the AP1 and DCI by leaving the 5 and 6 out and using the AP1 8 and 9 irons.

The up side of the DCIs is that I found the middle irons easier to hit vs the AP1 (I got rid of my 6 and 7 irons quite some time ago and that is mainly because I don't miss with the 7H).

I found that one gets more feedback from the DCIs because there is no damping material on the head. Seems like the DCIs pick the ball cleaner.

Thoughts?

[/quote]

Here are my test results from the past 2 days....

1. I took the DCI 9 iron and AP1 PW to the park and got about 3 more yards with the DCI. Hitting was about the same. At the golf course last week, I hit the green on a 129 yard par 3.

2. Took the DCI 7 iron (36*) and the AP1 8 iron (37*) and got about a 2 yard difference. Found the 7 iron actually easier to hit. I've been having a lot of issues with AP1 8 iron for the past year and ended up using only the 9 and PW and using a choke shot with the 7-34 hybrid. I've been hitting my 9 130 yards and my PW about 115-120.

My other thought is to take the AP1 9 and PW along to the golf course next time and leave out the 5 and 6 since I'm pretty established with the hybrids. I have a 2200 yard exec course that is perfect for max usage of the 9 iron and PW (one par 3 is 115 and the other 105 and most of the par 4s are around 270-300 plus the 2nd hole is a 505 yd par 5).
