Forged clubs usually have a "chrome overlay" over the base forged steel. Some actually don't have any overlay and are called "raw" or some other term. The satin chrome finish is a different alloy mixture with less chromium and a higher nickel content. Chrome overlay can consist of high copper, high nickel or high chrome in the alloy. Nickel isn't as bright as chrome, so it has a duller finish and should be solfter as Chromium is harder than nickel. If you want to dull the finish, use a buffing wheel with a harsher buffing compound, like the compound used for rust removal or for brass. But be careful! The chrome finish on most forged clubs is only 0.001" thick.

yea, i dont think we will get them released.. i just wanted to know what type of grinding wheel they used in the tour van... i just went to the wheel at my golf shop at my school and did it with a scotch brite wheel... worked like a charm

The 660 blades back from 2006 actually had a satin finish on them. If you want to get satin Titleist blades, I would search ebay and then put new shafts in if need be. Just a thought.

I don't have any answers to your questions.

But one thing I like about my 962's over my blades is the finish. Yes that shiny chrome looks good in the bag, not so much on a sunny day trying to line up a shot.

I would assume a Scotchbrite wheel or a bead blast.
