I moved from a blade to a mallet just a couple of weeks ago.

Was struggling to get the ball to the hole and always leaving it on the low side of the hole.

Early days but much better since the switch.

I'm not sure that either one is forgiving, but those properties can be fine tuned in a fitting session. However, the users of both are of two different styles- more arc for blades as opposed to more squared in a mallet.

Yes, I've gone from blades to a mallet which fits my style closer and therefore it improved my results by just switching to a mallet.

Even though I went through a fitting and was recommended a blade, it didn't work as well as I wanted. The ball went where I aimed it. The problem was getting an accurate aim. I went back to a mallet style to aim better with the longer sight line. I adapted well and am more accurate with the aim. If you check the pro's from 3 years ago to today, many have switched to a mallet. It's personal choice - Corey Pavin is still using what appears to be a Bull's Eye putter.

I went the opposite a long time ago. I use to have many mallet style putters and found a blade on accident. For me it's feel when swinging and the weight balance. If I found a mallet that felt the same I may or may not switch.

Depending on why you are missing it right a face balanced mallet could help improve that. You would have to see an instructor to know for sure though.

I made the switch a few years back seems to me the mallet's are more stable through out the swing. Good look because as with every change comes time to adjust. Do you have a PGA pro you could ask?

I had hit a blade style putter for almost 30 years, and I just switched to the Futura 6m DB and I love it. It did take me a while to get use to the sight difference, and having such a huge head, but the weights on the back of the putter have really helped me hold the head square throughout my swing. Good luck finding the right putter for you!

Switched to a mallet awhile ago. More beef on long putts. Smoother control from the fringe than a blade for me. My 2 putters are SC Phantom and Studio Select Kombi.

Hey Phillip,

I just recently switched to a mallet style putter from a blade. The mallet is obviously heavier which took an adjustment period. I made the switch to coincide with trying to get less arc in my stroke, to keep putts more on line. Overall, I like the heavier weight and feel more balance during the stroke.

I have went from a newport mallet back to my select newport NO sightline's. For me i need to releast the putter and the mallet style would not allow me to do it, Scotty make's awesome putters. If you are a SBST pattern then the mallet might work for you.:)
