I am assuming if I cannot see the dots that means putter is square? You can also add it to both sides around the rear. Either spot will not damage the finish and pieces can be added to your desired feel. I have a few of these. The point is not to be able ot see the dots at address. When the dots are no longer visible, the putter is square.<br /><div style="clear:both;"></div>
