I would probably take a hole in one, though an albatross is far rarer. Something about that pride and accomplishment as a golfer.. I'm a 0 handicap, and have never had one even though I've been inches away multiple times. I thought over the summer I might get one, but the ball stopped just short.

Ace, for sure.

But, I have an interesting double eagle/hole-in-one story...

I caddied, of a summer, at Valhalla about 20 years ago. It was caddying a member-guest tournament. In our group, the member holed out his 2nd shot from about 250 yards on the par 4 16th hole. Due to the handicaps, they received a net 1 for the hole!

That was fun.

I have a double eagle (Driver, 6 Iron on a 515 yard par 5 and it was a cool experience, though I didn't see the ball go in the hole from the 185 yards out. That said, it wasn't nearly as exciting as witnessing a hole-in-one. Just something about the hole-in-one that's unique, despite the fact that the double eagle is statistically far more difficult to achieve.

Lots of close calls on holes-in-one, but no pin flag hanging in my home for that yet!!

Have one of each. Though the D.E. Was in the dark playing in a “glow ball” tourney. Didn’t get to see it drop. Watching the Ace was better.

Have 5 hole in ones so I am leaning to the double eagle, have several eagles but no doubles as of yet

I'll take the Double E all day long. I've had plenty of HIO's over the years, never a LEGIT double eagle. I don't count hitting 8-9 iron into a par 5 and holing it as legit.......lol

I've been fortunate to have experienced both.

I've seen other holes in one but have never seen another albatross.

There's something totally surreal about holing such a long shot (2nd on a par five for me).

Double eagle for sure.

I've heard the tour pros say there is no such thing as a double eagle. They call it an "Albatross."
Just like there is no such thing as a double birdy, which is called an "Eagle."
A hole in one is the highest accomplishment in golf.
It means you were perfect for one hole.
One in one shot.

2 double eagles and 0 hole in ones. I have a couple buddies who cant break 100 and they have hole in ones, I'm a 1 handicap and I cant make one lol. Ill take the ace!!

2 double eagles, 1 hole in one. Nobody cares about the albatross, everybody is wowed by the one. Remember what Walter Hagen said; "If I hit 2 feet from the hole it's skill; if it goes in, it's just s@*t luck."

I wouldn't mind getting close to either, as s tased a hole in one is easier and I am more likely to achieve this, so an ace for me.

Well I’ve had 2 HIO’s and 1 DE. I can’t complain about either since my DE was actually shorter than one of my HIO.

Although I have a buddy that has 8 DE’s and no HIO’s. It’s quite obvious which he feels is a better shot. But he still wishes he’d make a HIO.
