I like to see very little bounce on my 60*, my current set up is 5* of bounce ground down to near 3*. Means i always feel like i can get the club between the ball and he turf, helps with he flop shots for me.

When the SM6's were introduced I called Titleist and talked to Cathi. I said I had a sweeper type swing and play on soft fairways in Wisconsin and firm fairways in Florida. Firm, damp sand in both. She recommended the SM6 54*-8* M grind and the SM6 60*-10* S grind. I have never looked back! How great it is to call Titleist direct and get honest straightforward advice. Use the F grinds for my longer shots 48 & 52-08 (I am more of a sweeper) and the M grinds for my 56 & 60 both 8 degrees of bounce,great for firm sand and average lip height.Also love the look and setup of the M-Grinds.Hop that helps.Tony

I'd recommend the s grind for square faced sand shots. For a flop where you want to open the face the m grind is the way to go .

I would recommend a s grind if you want to keep the club squared.

If you prefer a square face for sand shots than the s grind is probably the way to go.

When I recently was fitted, we spent most of the time determining the bounce to use, not worrying about the grinds. Once we worked out the bounce, then we selected the grind to match the swings I make. I already knew which lofts I needed/wanted -- just matched what I currently have. Remember, most of your wedge shots are NOT full swings, so work it out accordingly.

I am also a sweeper, I found very little difference between the L and M grind in a 60 degree. I went for the M, It works really well from tight lies and wet sand with an open blade. The S grind is meant to be played with a square blade, it also works well with an open face in soft sand. Having a combination like this is really useful as it gives you options around the course for tight and fluffy lies. As B.A mentions there is a big difference between SM5 and SM6, it is much easy to flight the ball with the new model. I have found the S grind better in the SM6, with the 5 the toe seemed to dig in a lot.

It's worth trying them though if you can.

many thanks ,I'm sweeper that likes to open the face on a flop but not have it bounce into the ball ...... prefer more of a square face on sand shot looking for a starting point to work from.

Yeah, there are more factors than just the grind... It also matters how you swing (sweeper vs digger...). You really need to try them out and see what works best for you. There is also a difference between the SM5 seris and SM6 even though the grinds are the same, they react very differently.

The ones that work for me are the F grind on the full shots and the M on my 60.08 where I will hit a full shot as well as open the face. I use it out of sand or tight lies, but you need to figure out what's best for you.

You ask a simple question but it is complex. Check www.vokey.com/.../wedge-selection.aspx since Vokey talks about which bounce and loft to use for each persons game. If you additional questions please post them and I will try to assist. Keep in mind, wedges are an art vs. a science so keep your mind open and try to not be too analytical. Just a thought...
