Should I use the same shafts in my new Vokeys or should I go down to firm or even regular shafts? My swing speed is on average about 109-114 mph and my handicap is 6. Anyone got any advice? Thank you

RE: What shafts should I use in my new wedges?

I also use the same shafts from my irons all the way down into the wedges. I have my 50 with same shaft as irons and 54, 58 with standard wedge shaft as I don't hit full swing shots with either one. This is just my personal preference and may change when the new Project X wedge shafts come out.

RE: What shafts should I use in my new wedges?

I agree with others on this thread. Talk to a Fitter. I use the same shafts in my wedges that I use in my irons.

RE: What shafts should I use in my new wedges?

Every time I get fit for wedges, I'm told to get the same shaft that's in the rest or my irons.

RE: What shafts should I use in my new wedges?

When in doubt, get fit for the wedges. I had 718 AP1s with Project X rifle 6.5 and was fit for SM7s with the same shaft at the same time.

Fast forward to last year when I did my fitting again and T200s were the choice. The fitter put me into Project X LZ 6.0, the flight and spin were better for me. But, when I was fit for the SM9s in the spring same fitter said, "I prefer you in the PX rifle 6.5s for your wedges."

That's why I recommend getting fit. Sometimes, it will be the same shaft, sometimes not. Just depends on your swing and what a combination of the Trackman and the dirt tell you. FWIW, both my iron and wedge fittings were combination of indoor Trackman and hitting from natural turf as well to come up with, head, shaft, and lie adjustments.

RE: What shafts should I use in my new wedges?

Hi SMead

It’s really hard to know I myself use project x LZ shafts in my iron and I put them in my vokeys. The clubs where like night and day. They felt better in my hands from the moment I matched them to my iron shafts. They where so much easier to control on all types of shots. I put the exact same stiffness in my 52 and 56. I stepped it down to a firm for the 60 just for a little more feel.
Best thing I can suggest is talk to a pro, club fitter if you work with someone on your game as they will give you best advice.
I hope this helps.
