Pro V1 Prevails at Pebble

PGA TOUR | AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

The champion of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am trusted his Pro V1 to a two shot-victory, making eagle on Pebble Beach’s famed par-5 18th to close out his fourth win on the PGA TOUR

  • The winner – who ended the week T-3 in Greens in Regulation and 1st  in Scrambling (87.5%) – was one of five players in the Top 6 to play a Titleist golf ball.
  • Tying for third were Titleist Brand Ambassadors Jordan Spieth [Pro V1x, NEW TSi3 driver, TS2 fairway, 818H2 hybrid, T100 irons, Vokey SM8 wedges, Scotty Cameron 009 putter], who earned his second Top-4 finish in two weeks, and Patrick Cantlay [Pro V1x, TS3 driver, 915F fairway, 816H2 hybrid, 718 AP2 irons, Vokey SM7 & SM8 wedges, Scotty Cameron GSS putter], who moved to the top of the FedEx Cup Standings.
  • More players teed up NEW 2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x at Pebble Beach than all competitors’ golf balls combined, as players continue to make the switch into the new models.
  • Titleist was the most played driver at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am with 48 players, 14 more than the nearest competitor, and was also the most played golf ball with 115 players teeing up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x. In addition to golf balls and drivers, Titleist was also the #1 fairway metal, utility iron, hybrid, iron and wedge at the event.
  • Titleist golf ball players have 13 wins so far this PGA TOUR season (nearest competitor: 2).

HOMA ADDS NEW PHANTOM X 11.5

Max Homa put a NEW Scotty Cameron Phantom X 11.5 tour prototype in play after working with Scotty Cameron Tour Rep Drew Page early in the week at Pebble Beach.

  • Homa, who had used his trusty Futura T5W all but two weeks since the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open, ended the week T-7 while finishing ninth in Strokes Gained: Putting.
  • “It’s very similar to his previous gamer in terms of look and offset but provides him with a little more stability and additional alignment features that he didn’t have with his T5W,” Page said. “It also has a solid milled steel face which he prefers because of the feedback it gives him on the hit.”
  • The NEW Phantom X models, just announced this week, are available in golf shops beginning March 26.

LASHLEY SWITCHES TO NEW PRO V1x

Nate Lashley put NEW Pro V1x in play for the first time at last week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, following a testing session with Fordie Pitts of Titleist Golf Ball R&D.

  • “Nate put in some work with NEW Pro V1x on TrackMan and liked the numbers he was seeing,” Pitts said. “He was gaining a little more height and spin compared to his current ball (prior generation Pro V1x), which we felt would benefit him especially when conditions get firmer and harder. He took it on the course for additional testing, liked what he saw, and put it right in play.”
  • Lashley started off well with his NEW Pro V1x, opening with a 64 in Phoenix. This week, he opened with a 65 Thursday on his way to a T-5 finish, his best so far in 2021.

TITLEIST DRIVERS AND METALS THE TOP CHOICE AT PEBBLE

Titleist was once again the most played driver this week on the PGA Tour with 48 players, 14 more than the nearest competitor. Jordan Spieth [Titleist TSi3 10.5, Fujikura Ventus Blue 6 X] was one of 43 players who teed up a NEW TSi model.

  • That includes the recent winner of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, who finished T-5 this week playing his TSi3 9.0 (Mitsubish Diamana D+ Limited 70 TX).
  • He has finished T-5 (The American Express), 1st (Dubai Dester Classic), T-12 (Saudi International) and T-5 (Pebble Beach Pro-Am) since putting the new TSi in play.
  • “I put a new driver in, and I don't often talk about equipment, but I put a Titleist driver in the bag… I feel like I’m driving the golf ball like I did when I was playing my best golf, when I was 3 in the world or whatever, and that's – I feel like this rejuvenation,” he said following his victory in Dubai.
  • Titleist was also the most played fairway metal and hybrid in the event.

TITLEIST T100 IRONS LEAD THE WAY, SPIETH ADDS 4-IRON

Titleist was the most trusted iron at Pebble Beach, while Titleist T100 was the top model in play, as it has been every week since the RSM Classic last November.

  • At the recent Farmers Insurance Open, Jordan Spieth added a 4-iron to his set of T100s, replacing his U•500 utility, to achieve a slightly flatter trajectory through California’s coastal winds, and has kept it in play.
  • “At Torrey Pines there were a lot of shots he needed to hit in that distance range, and he was looking for a little flatter flight through the wind,” said Titleist Tour Rep J.J. VanWezenbeeck. “We built him a T100 4 iron (True Temper Project X 6.5) with a slightly longer shaft length to match ball speed he was getting from the U500, but with the launch window he wanted.”

PGA TOUR OF AUSTRALASIA | The Moonah Links PGA Classic

Bryden Macpherson trusted a NEW Pro V1, NEW TSi3 driver and bag full of Titleist equipment to claim his fourth professional victory at Moonah Links’ Open Course. Macpherson [2021 Pro V1, TSi3 driver, TSi2 Fairway, U500 3 iron, 620MB irons and Vokey SM8 wedges] rallied with a tournament-best 8-under 64 to win by one shot and lead a 1-2-3 finish for Titleist golf ball players.

  • It was the second consecutive win by on the PGA TOUR of Australasia for the New Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls and NEW TSi drivers.
  • Chris Wood won last week playing a NEW Pro V1x and NEW TSi3 driver.
  • More players trusted Titleist golf balls (98 players/88%) and drivers (62 players/56%) than all competitors combined.
