I purchased the new U 505 because one of my golfing buddies has the previous version (4 iron) with a Graphite Design DI-85 shaft that he left me try a couple of times, and I loved it. It was long, high, and straight, and felt terrific. I liked it so much, I told my buddy that if it even went missing, I should be the first place to look. I should add I'm 72 years old and no longer play long irons, and my longest iron is a 6. Fast forward: my club had a Titleist Demo Day, and I wanted to try the new 505 version to see if I liked it and if it would be a fit, since I could add a club to my bag.
The latest iteration felt great, even though I prefer the former version's look (I know I'm an outlier). I got similar results, and it felt great. We looked at the numbers for my other irons (previous Titleist 350 version), which had been great. In doing so, I tried both the new 250 and 350. I was a bit surprised to find I got better spin and descent angle with the new 250 without sacrificing distance. The quandary created was the gap between the 4- and 6-irons. The fitter recommended I order the 4-iron, 2 degrees weaker, to replicate a 5-iron.
Long story, long... I ordered the new U 505 and purchased the new 250 6 through Gap wedge and could not be more pleased.
