My mind was wandering as it often does and I thought of a golf tip that helped me with my putting. That got me thinking about what other "simple" golf tips could help my game. So I'm asking what are some simple tips that have helped your game. It can be as small as a word you think or an image you visualize. Just not an encyclopedia you read during your backswing. One of mine is to not turn your head toward the hole until you hear the ball go in. I know, I know, you don't make every putt but it keeps me from peeking as I make my stroke. Seems to have helped a little. So lets hear them.

When my putting goes south (I could rack up a bunch of frequent flyer miles as often as that happens) my number one thought is pick a spot about 24" in front of the ball and one about 12" behind the ball and focus on the putter head following that line more than looking at the ball.
Now if I could read greens like I used to read Playboy magazine 50 years ago I'd save 4 to 6 strokes a round.

The simplest tip I got was from a pro during a multi-day golf school. "Don't compound an error by trying the hero shot." Take your medicine and play so you have a chance to save par or make no worse than bogey.

The simplest tip I've gotten was from a pro during a multi-day golf school several years ago. "Don't compound a bad shot by attempting the hero shot." Just take your medicine and get back in play. By doing this, you give yourself the opportunity for par or no worse than bogey. Comes into use frequently, I'm sorry to say.

Playing in an event with my dad caddying for me, after a few holes of playing well, we had a slip up on a par 4 making a double and I was ready to come unglued. Driver in hand waiting for my turn to tee off on the next hole my dad leaned over and whispered be smooth. Meaning to make a nice swing and not try to recover the hole before that and possibly make another bad swing. I put a smooth swing on the ball and it found the fairway and that is a one work swing cue I try and use often.

Driving; eliminate one side of the fairway; If you fade the ball use the right side of the tee;if you draw use the left.

Irons; take one more club than you think you need

Putting: don't take too long to pull the trigger. Pick a spot takee a practice stroke and go.
  8. Mine relates to greenside shots, especially the more difficult lies but it's necessary for all and that's 'keep the speed up.' Trying to steer or guide any shot is a bad idea, but around the greens it's especially bad. Chances are if you struggle with chips/pitches/bunker shots you're de-celling into the ball. Make a nice, confident accelerating stroke and you'll find yourself hitting crisper shots.

Yes, this is one that I've got to work on.
  10. Just don’t over think when getting ready to hit the ball.

Simple tip I’ve always used for better contact when giving lessons…look at and aim to hit the front of the golf ball. It’s so dumb but it helps to hit down on the ball and get cleaner contact.

Side note: I used to carry a jar of bright fingernail polish and would put a blot down on the ground in front of the ball for some when we were really working on compressing the ball. Lol.

Have heard this one. I need to get back to it at my next range session.
  13. Best tip I’ve ever received is to have more smiles than stroke’s during a round. Make golf fun.
  14. The smoother the swing the better contact you will make... if you try to hit it too hard you swing will go wrong putting you in trouble

Driving: don’t try to kill the ball, let the club do the work
Irons/Wedges: keep your head down and breathe
    Putting: aim small miss small
