I walked up to the tee box on hole 8 coming off a triple bogey on the last hole. My friend and I drove the cart over to hole 8 and parked it. I remember walking up to the tee box thinking, "It would be crazy to hit a hole in 1" which is usually my first thought walking up to a par 3. I then took out my range finder which said it was 156 yards to the pin. My friend Kern teed up first and topped his ball about 50 yards. He was pretty heated after that so I waited a few seconds for him to calm down before I teed up. It was a particularly windy day and I had lots of wind coming from behind me. I was wondering if 7 iron would be to much club but decided that it would be to much of a hassle to walk back to the cart to grab my 8. I did my usually shot routine, stood over the ball, and hit. It looked like one of the straightest shots I had ever hit. The ball soared through the air and had its first bounce about 15 feet away from the green. It first took a pretty big bounce, then a smaller medium bounce, and then began to roll. From where I was standing it seemed to me like I had just lost sight of the ball or maybe even hit it over. But Kern yelled, "Get in the hole! Get in the hole! It's in the hole!!!!" and started to sprint towards the green. I quickly got in the cart and drove after him not believing what he had just said. I pulled out my phone and started recording as I got closer to the hole. Kern stood at the green and waited as I ran towards the hole. I peeked my head over it and there was my ball. Kern and I exploded into yelling and excitement. It was truly one of the greatest moments of my life. I quickly face-timed my dad to tell him the great news. He was stuck in traffic and yelled in his car. Although I have only been golfing for around 8 months, I was blessed to have hit my first ever hole in 1 on May 1, 2025.
