Hey guys,
Just writing to tell you a little about my first hole in 1 here at the Amaruk Golf course here in Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL. So the back drop…Yesterday, we played in a 4 man best ball tournament in memory of one of my Jr soccer coaches Wayne “Moose” Winters. The tournament was ran by Law enforcement in which I happen to be a career firefighter here as well. So for the past few years, myself and 3 other firefighters have been registering a team in memory of one of our fallen brothers Gary “Gar” Stamp. We start out the day on fire; draining birdie puts from everywhere putting our team in really good shape to shoot the low round of the day. As we’re finishing us the front 9 the rain starts; hesitant on giving up because we’re shooting so well we decided to keep on pushing through. Here’s where it gets good, we finish up hole 14 and decide to get inside out of the pouring rain to dry off andddd it just so happened that subway, pizza delight and some bbq burgers just came in from the grill. So after eating a burger, 2 slices of pizza, half a sub, and a few garlic fingers we look outside and it looks like the rain is slowing down a bit so we decide to brave the storm and start again on hole 15, a short 156 yrd par 3. We make our way out and by the time we get there the rain has started to absolutely pour again. Either way we’re on the tee box now and this hole happened to have a small prize for closest to the pin so were havin a shot at it either way. I get up haul out my pitching wedge and noticed that my grip was soaking wet. All that’s going through my mind now is I’m so gonna shank this ball. Anyway I put my ball on the ground , step back and swung away and soon as I hit my ball let out a “holy god guys that’s going straight at it” so everyone’s on the tee box staring this ball down as it hits the green and rolls towards the pin and out of no where, DISSAPEARS!!! We all knew instantly that the ball went in the hole and started jumping and screamin like school girls at a Katy Perry concert. The group ahead of us left their tee box and checked the hole and sure enough a big thumbs up came up! They then proceeded to join us on the tee box jumpin and screamin like school girls. We then all made our way to the green, collected our ball, took some pictures and hung the closest to the pin marker up on top of the flag! It was an amazing experience and I can’t help but to think I had some help from a few of my friends and mentors in heaven; Moose and Gar
