It was the first hole of the round at Arrowe Park Golf Course (PAR 4) and my very last round there before heading off to university. I teed up with my mate of 16 years and my girlfriend by my side. I hit the ball, fading it left down the middle of the fairway. It bounced a few times, then rolled up onto the hill of the left bunker. From there, it rolled off the hill, onto the green, and amazingly into the hole. It was 270 yards from the tee.
Just as the ball went in, a guy came running around the side of the green, waving his arms. I thought I nearly hit him and yelled, "Sorry!" But because of the curve of the hole, I couldn’t see the flag, so I had no idea the ball had actually gone in.
Then, the guy shouts, “Hole in one!” I couldn’t believe it. I ran over, phone in hand, recording the madness, as he explained what had just happened and congratulated me. I was still in complete shock.
What makes this even crazier is that, just before the round, I grabbed a random ball from my bag to play with—didn’t think anything of it. I was using previously lost balls, like srxn, Titleist, cally, etc. But the ball I happened to grab was a srxn #1, which is not only fitting because it was my first hole in one, but also because the number was gold and the #1 on the ball matched the hole number!
Heres what’s crazy- Before the round, I had told my dad, “If I played Arrowe Park for the rest of my life, I could get a hole in one on the first hole (par 4).” And that’s exactly what happened.
To top it all off, just 10 minutes after my hole in one, my brand new srxn carry bag arrived at home being the same company as the ball.
