Titleist staff member Rob Labritz, PGA Director of Golf at the GlenArbor Golf Club in Bedford Hills, N.Y., closed with a flawless 7-under 64 to win medalist honors by three shots and earn full playing privileges on the 2022 PGA TOUR Champions.

    • Labritz – playing a Pro V1 Yellow golf ball, TSi3 10.0° driver, NEW T100 and T100•S irons and Vokey Design SM8 wedges among his Titleist equipment – made seven birdies over a 10-holes stretch Sunday to pull away from runners-up Thongchai Jaidee (Pro V1x) and David Branshaw (Pro V1).
    • The fourth-place finisher also played Pro V1, while Tom Gillis (Pro V1) finished fifth, as Pro V1 and Pro V1x players claimed all five fulltime tour cards for the 2022 season.
    • Said Labritz, who has been a club professional since he was 19 years old and turned 50 on May 31: “I’ve been envisioning this happening. And it did, which is crazy. It shows the power of the mind. I’m beyond the moon. I’m almost speechless. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this, to know that my golf game held up.”
    • Labritz has made eight appearances in the PGA Championship, earning low club professional in 2010 at Whistling Straits and 2019 at Bethpage Black.  “This is what I’ve worked for my entire life,” he said after Friday’s third round. “Every time I’m out hitting golf balls, I’m thinking of this. I’m thinking of the shots I need to hit to make sure this happens. It’s super important, but it’s super fun, too. I’m doing what I love, and there’s nothing better.”

What’s in Rob Labritz’s Titleist Bag?

Golf Ball: Titleist Pro V1 Yellow
    Driver: TSi3 10.0 | Graphite Design TOUR AD IZ 7 X
    Fairway Metal: TSi2 15.0 | Fujikura Speeder 757 Evolution 6 X
    Hybrid: TSi2 18.0 | True Temper Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 90 6.5
Irons: NEW T200 (4-7) irons| True Temper AMT White S300 and NEW T100•S (8-PW) | True Temper AMT White S300
    Wedges: Vokey Design SM8 50.12F, 54.12D, 58.10S | True Temper Dynamic Gold S200

LABRITZ WINS WITH MIXED SET OF NEW T-SERIES IRONS

    • Labritz earned his 2022 PGA TOUR Champions card gaming a mixed set of NEW T200 and NEW T100•S irons he put in play after a fitting with Titleist fitter Nick Geyer this summer.
    • Labritz, who had previously played a full set of prior generation T200 irons, moved into the NEW T200 4, 5, 6 and 7 irons, while also making the switch to the NEW T100•S 8, 9 and pitching wedge (all with True Temper AMT White S300 shaft).
    • “Rob loved the sleeker look of the NEW T200’s, he said they felt more solid and he could feel the club head moving a little faster through the turf,” Geyer said. “He also gained some speed and peak height, and knew they were going right in the bag. With NEW T100•S, he preferred the smaller profile in the scoring clubs but what really stood out was that they were just as fast as T200. It was a very smooth transition for him into the mixed set.”
    • Said Labritz earlier this season at the PGA Championship: “The T200’s are in my bag to give me maximum forgiveness and I hit the ball far with these things. All these guys that are on tour, man, they hit the ball far, so I want to try to keep up with them. I played a few practice rounds with some other Titleist guys today (at Kiawah Island) and they’re tour players. I’m a club pro, but I could still hit it out there with them because of my T200’s.”

HOW LABRITZ MARKS HIS PRO V1 YELLOW GOLF BALL

    • “This is what I’ve done for a long time, ever since I was a kid. I put a little smiley face because I’m always happy to be on the golf course. And then I make it a little mean guy (by adding eyebrows to the smiley face) because I like to crush the golf course. So that’s on every Titleist golf ball that I play and it’s also a tattoo that my son actually has on his wrist, which is kind of cool.”

    LABRITZ ON HIS TSi DRIVER

    • “I just love the way this club (TSi3 10.0° driver, Graphite Design TOUR AD IZ X shaft) works. I mean, it looks great when you set it down on the ground and then obviously when the ball comes off, it comes off with a lot of speed. So I’m in love with the driver, probably one of my best, I think it's my best club in the bag to be honest with you.”

Congrats to Rob. Played at GlenArbor 35 years ago back when it was called Lakeover Golf and CC. A good layout that needed some TLC. Even had a beautiful Sanford White designed clubhouse with staterooms upstairs. That's all gone now as they brought in Gary Player to redesign the golf course and update the rest of the property. Just another top notch facility in the Met Section.
