For a number of years I have favored the Newport 2 Select Notchback putters. I purchased my first one in 2012 which was the black edition and really fell in love with the model except with it's inability to hold it's color. It is easy to tell where I have been striking the ball consistently with a white spot in the middle of the putter face. Kind of beat up but still gets the job done. In 2017 I purchased a 2016 chrome model which I found more to my liking. I really like the look of chrome clubs. The black one has 15gm weights for slower greens and the chrome 10gm weights for faster and a little lower loft. I recently decided that it was time to make a change. The new Specials do not have an insert in them and the feel just feels right so our came the golf debit card. Am very pleased with it and with our new Raynor greens it is performing rather well. Did change the SC grip for a GolfPride SNSR Tour 104 which has been a favorite of mine for years. Normally, I do not have more than two putters in my arsenal. Guess I can manage this time. I purchased thru my favorite local Titleist/FJ dealer who is a dear friend I have known for over 30 plus years, plus he does all my fittings.

    Chuck,

Happy that you have a new putter that meets your current needs. I'm very surprised that you could manage only two putters for so long, though. Years ago, I postulated that the reason golfers putt better with new putters is due to what golfers do with a new putter - that is, they go and practice with it! So, I thought I had enough putters and shapes to be 'set for life'. Yeah, a slight miscalculation! I found that trying a mallet for higher MOI was interesting, then I got a center shaft mallet, so the disease hasn't been cured simply by practicing!

My current weapon (hopefully not for self-inflicted wounds!) is a Studio Select Newport 2.7, a face-balanced model, instead of the Phantom 6 STR I had been using. Both have necessitated a lot of lead tape to bring the swingweight up to my desired balance.

Good luck to you with your new weapon!
