I made the switch from Odyssey to a Scotty myself. I had only used mallets before, but I ended up trying out a Studio Select Newport 2.5 and have been using it for the last 15 years. I had only used softer faced putters, but was surprised how much I liked the firmer feel of the Newport. I don’t think you will regret the switch…but it’s gonna cost you a little more than 50 this time! But worth every penny!

Putters, especially SC Putters, can be very personal. I feel there are a couple things one must do in order to find a great fit...not just look at price.

First, toe flow is very important...do you like to be SBST or more with an arc with your putter motion? Some players like myself need Straight Back Straight Through while others prefer a big arc....once you determine this you can better make a choice in the lineup of SC Putters.

Second, looks are paramount...do you prefer a line on the top of the face or flange, do you prefer alot of alignment marks or minimal? I have a naked putter and prefer minimal while others like all sorts of lines etc...

The rest of the options are ancillary but still important such as weight, length and loft on the face. These need to be determined by having a trained professional assess your stroke IMHO.

You gotta get your hands on one or 2 or 5 Lol! The putter in your hands is about feel, confidence and feeling comfortable. I have no doubt, there is a Scotty Cameron for you!

First, I would get fitted. Once that's done, then I firmly believe in paying for quality. You use your putter 30 or so a round, more than any other club. It's makes sense if it is the most expensive club in your bag. And whatever putter you are using, you have to have confidence that you are going to make every putt. If a Scotty does that for you, and you can afford it, I would say go for it.

Scottys give me more feedback compared to odyssey. The face feels solid all around while when I putt with an odyssey non milled face it feels too soft.

I would get a fitting and find one that fits your stroke and your eye. My Scotty Studio Style Newport2+ has changed my game for the MUCH better.

I’m a proud owner of two SC putters, both Fastback 1.5 but one is from 2022, I think, and the new one is from 2025. I quit using an old Wilson from 1992 and when I try that one out today, I don’t get how I even could put with it.
With a Scotty Cameron in my hands, it feels so confident. When I go back to the “old” Fastback it kind of feels like a little betrayal, leaving an excellent putter behind. But the new one just feels so nice and balanced. My putting really has evolved when I swished to SC. Especially the long ones, easier to “feel” the distance.

I love my Scotty. Definitely worthy of a switch. Maybe go roll one at your club.

I currently put with a mallet but I have had a few scotties. I have putted with png oddesy and even an old ray cook, the comparison to a scotty is slim to none imo. I have not used a phantom but did have a futura. You could always look for a used one that won't hurt the pocket book to much and still get an exceptional feel and look.
