Well another year has past and Covid has put another dent in my playing time. I was able to get more playing time than 2020, but not as much as I wanted too. We all played more and tried to hit 2021 goals and scores. I did fairly well for not playing as much.

Working on a lot for this year as I am getting older.......

    The goal this year....

Minimal 3 putts, no more than 2 per round (The Scotty helps) Minimal lost balls and OB. Keep it is the fairway and playable. Get into a good pre-shot routine, see the shot, swing with timing and confidence. Learn to "miss" in the right places. Less traps and hard shots to recover.

    What's your goals.....

Birdie all 18 at my home course
Play a round without a DB or worse
    Play a round without a 3 putt
    5 rounds with multiple birdies
8.6 index now to something in the 5s

My main goal is staying focused during a round. I attended one of the Titleist Talks that had Michael Breed as a speaker and he shared good suggestions on sharpening the mental game; I will use some of his recommendations in 2022 and see how well they work for me.

Michael Breed has a unique way of simplifying the mechanics of golf. He is one of the people offering tips that I like to pay attention to.
  5. Confident Putting
    Gym sessions to increase strength
    More.
Structured practice to take advantage of increased strength
    More practice with Wedges

I would like to get my index into the plus category. I was a +0.1 for a hot minute until a tournament round bumped me out. I would also like to qualify for either a state or national championship, even advancing to the next stage of qualifying would be cool.

Either way, I am going to enjoy the process. If it happens, great if not, no worries.

Lastly, I want to participate in my FIRST Team Titleist event this year.

Right now I am so scared to chip, I have perfected the 45 degree chip from 5-15 yards off the green. From 15 yards it took me 5 shots to get on the green. I just chased the ball around the green. Happened 6 times in my last 2 rounds

So that is my main goal for 2022 is to get back to my normal chipping & not think about it ever again. I get up/down 35% of the time so it was never a real issue until late 2021.

    Other goals:
Work on a more fluid, longer driver swing
Keep working through Erika Larkins Book: A True Swing (been a great help so far)
    Chipping, Chipping, Chipping

    All of the above,
Play more, lower scores and hopefully stay injury free ️‍♂️

My only goal is to lower my handicap to anything below 7. This improvement will entail improving my FIR and GIR as well as avoiding three puts.

    1. Win more money from my regular group than I did last year!

    2. 201 rounds of golf. (Failed badly due to injuries in 2021.)

    3. No injuries!

I do like Todd's goal. Realistic!

I opt not to make goals that are not attainable. I, fortunately, was able to play 90 rounds in 2021 and plan on continuing that pace in 2022.

** To be safe as we have been during the pandemic protecting ourselves as well as others.
** Continue to work with my pros on my game on my main weaknesses: alignment, tempo and bunker play.
** To make someone laugh everyday and have fun playing golf.
** Shoot my age. 75 by 9/10, if that does not pan out, then 76 becomes the goal for the remainder of the year.
** Continue to travel and make new friends.

  16. Wishing you all the best Steve. Hope that 2022 is a good year for you and you are able to get back on the course
  17. 2021 was pretty good, got a new set of sticks, was at one time down almost 4 strokes to a 6.7, but ballooned to a 9 at the end of the season, almost exclusively due to poor putting.
    For 2022
    Have fun
    Play more rounds
Work on putting, as many rounds as possible with no 3 putts
Continue working out to stay in the shape I need to play the way I want
Fully immerse myself on the trip to Pebble
Win more of my Sunday games than I lose
Get index back down in the 6's

This year will be tricky. I'll either go through right shoulder surgery or phys ther. Hope it's the later.

I just want to be able to have the docs fix me to be pain free (I'll take 85%) - and if surgery comes, I hope to end this year with a lower index than I did last year.

Played though the pain at 9.* index through to the end of the year so it's not going to be difficult to beat, but I'm afraid my left knee is squeaking for oil, too. But, I'll be ok again.

Take good care of your health while you're young.

    Happy New Year!

Putting as well. Want to be better at 10feet!
  22. As always my # 1 goal is to improve year over year, golf is baby steps. I used to say, lower handicap by 2 strokes, or beat my low round by 2 strokes. This year I am changing that up, my only other set goal is 75% of all chips should be within 5 feet of the cup. (idea here is to give myself the best shot at a 1 putt, and what should be a par). if I am sucessful then Handicapp and scores should lower/follow .

To fully commit to getting my index to 9. Currently at 15.2 and have focused on these five things:

    1. Better fitness, tend to get run down holes 12-16.
    2. Better putting
    3. True value added practice
    4. Lessons to improve my swing and focus
    5. Play in more outings with strangers to push me to be better
  24. Mike M

    Mike M

    2022 goals:

    1. Don't dwell on a previous bad shot...it's over, move on!
2.Focus on finishing strong (too many late bogies in 2021)
3.Lower my scoring average to where it was in 2020 (37.6 for 9 holes)
  25. Realistic goals are tricky when balancing family, work, and golf, in that order; however, I will give it a shot:

#1. Find an ideal wedge setup (would love a Vokey fitting if anyone can help with that)
#2. Increase birdie average to 3.5+ per round
    #3. 50%+ fairways
    #4. 65%+ GIR
#5. Venmo balance higher at the end of the year than the beginning!
  1. 1
  2. 2
  3. Next
