    Hey Team Titleist!!

Reaching out to the community for some guidance. My wife is taking me to Dublin and Scotland for my birthday in March 2023.

She’s been amazing enough to let me play twice while there. We are staying at Portmarnock and have a tentative time for the 18th on the new course but understand it will only be 16 holes. Reached out for a time on Portmarnock (old).

We are also staying at the Old Course Hotel but see that the Old Course is all booked the days we are there.

Looking for options to play. I am looking at Royal Dublin.

Looking at the Dukes Course or any of the other St. Andrews courses.

The hurdle looks to be I am a single golfer so making times gets tricky.

    Any suggestions or helpful hints?

  2. Hi Tyler. Congrats on your upcoming birthday! Even if you don't get a chance to play the Old Course at St. Andrews, you can still take in all the St. Andrews magic. The course is closed on Sundays, so you can take a stroll around the links for free! Also, most of the other courses in and around St. Andrews are great tracks as well. Dukes is a nice course, but quite different to all the other ones, in the sense that it is an inland course. Definitely worth a visit, it is just not a classic links course. Kingsbarns, the Castle Course, and the tow courses at the Fairmont are also a safe bet. Hope you enjoy your trip! All the best, /M

    Morty,

Appreciate the feedback. After taking a look at the Fairmont, we are going to stay there instead and I will see if I can play both courses given, they are on property and more of a truer links style.

Yes, we are still planning on soaking in as much St. Andrews magic as we can. We are there in the middle of the week so unfortunately won't be able to walk the course Sunday. Still, looking forward to seeing the Old Course, taking a few photos, getting some merchandise and enjoying every step.

    -Cheers

    Hi Tyler.
There are loads of great courses in and around the area of portmarnock. Take a look at the Island, St Anne’s is another good course in the area and if you want a fun little links that’s a par 66 there’s Corballis links which is great value.
If your worried about been a single golfer don’t be there’s always someone free to show you around. If you need anymore help with anything let me know.
But have fun on your birthday trip.

    SMartin,

Thanks for the information. I ended up getting a tentative time at Royal Dublin. I did see St. Anne's as well but appeared that there were no times available. I will look at the Island as well. Not worried about being joined by other golfers, was more concerned about getting a time to play that I can play the rest of the day around.

    Thanks for the birthday wishes.

    Regards,

    Tyler
