I've used the Golfshot App for years and found it really good for keeping tack of rounds and stats.

Over the last few years there has been a shift towards strokes gained stats for analysing your round and its something I am interested in doing this season.

Does anyone here use an app that for stats inc strokes gained?

  2. Hi Tom,

I currently use the Garmin Golf App that records every shot (Via Garmin golf watch) . it then has a performance Stats section that shows your strokes gained and compares against other Garmin users that are in similar handicap positions to yourself. I love it! All your shots are shown graphically per golf hole after the round. great for analysing your round afterwards.

Seems to be on a par with New Year Resolutions for me.

    Hi there Tom

Been using Arccos for the last 15 months, after using Garmin for a couple of seasons.

I know that there's a fee, but the things you get from it in relation to what's working and what's not are so good. Likewise, you can look at simulated distances, and even use the Caddle feature before ging out to set up some sort of course strategy.

I tend to use Golfshake. It's old school, and doesn't do Strokes Gained...but it can suffice.

I get drawn into wanting extra stats, however, it gets to a point where the only real stat that matters is the number I sign for on the scorecard at the end of 18 holes.

I'm trying to ensure I log everything in Golfshake for this year, just out of interest to see if any trends crop up....but, for me, sometimes stat tracking can get in the way of 'find ball, hit ball, find ball again'.

    Kirkcaldy,

I’ve been using shotscope watch for the last few years and found the data collected really helpful to focus practice

    Tom,

For a long time I used the Golfshake app but it didn't really reflect any issues with my game so I was using the Fore app (from Foresight) as it gave strokes gained for all the parts of my game so I knew what to work on (Hcp down 6 shots in 2 years). Fore didn't track clubs used but it was fun adding these and putts into the system post round, but my poor phone battery took a pounding with this app.

I've just invested in the ShotScope H4 and tags (mainly as there's no subscription fee) for strokes gained stats. Unfortunately my course is undergoing a redesign so I don't know when I'll be able to use it there, but as I play in club matches and society events I'm hoping it will give me the stats I'm working to improve on this year.

  8. The level of golf I play I know my stats

I hit the majority of greens when playing and if I miss a green it is normally within a few yards anyway

Once you start going around par or similar you know your stats
