If I were to buy a stamping kit and use it on my wedges would it effect the way that they play or have any performance defects?

Only if you stamp the face. If you decide to start doing your own, find a couple of old wedges at a bargain store that you can practice on before you move to stamping your new Vokeys. Have fun.

A word of advice , as Dale said, PRACTICE. It will NOT come out good the first few times. I do all of my own, you need the right stamps, AND it takes awhile to realize how hard the hammer has to hit the stamp. Like letter coloring, it takes some effort, and a solid work bench/vise. It's fun when it starts to look good. To be honest, I gave up on our beloved stampers, and a few local guys, you rarely get exactly what you ordered! Good Luck!

These guys are right. I tried it a few times and even practiced on metal stock first, and it always came out looking like a 3 year old's writing lessons. Unless you're experienced with stamping, a good option is to take it to a trophy shop and have them do it. Looks pretty professional (cuz that's what they do) and really doesn't cost very much.
