  1. The 3 clubs I would use would be a 3 hybrid 7 iron and 52 degree wedge

Actually did one of these outings before. Most people take putter which in my opinion is big mistake. I used the 3 hybrid, 7 iron, and 56* wedge. Used the 7 iron to putt and worked better than expected. Group finished -4

I will drive & putt with the 3 wood, 6-iron for fairway/second-stroke use and a 52-degree wedge for around the green. I can always putt with the 3-wood if i am short of the green but in the fairway.

I played in a league that the tie-breaker was to play one hole with only one club. It brought course management to a new level.

Back in high school golf we used to do this for 9 holes (you would be suprised at how close your scores are). Back then it was 3W, 7i and putter. I could see myself now switching out the putter for a 54 degree.

It’s a fun exercise that forces you get creative with your shots.

We play this format 3 times per year in our normal mens club group. It is a lot of fun. We also vary the tee utilized . You can select to play 6 red, 6 white and 6 blue in any order during the 18 holes. What I find unusal is that my score is very close to what I shoot playing with all 14!!!!!! Does this mean I have too many choices.
  10. 3 Hy, 8iron, 54

I've played these in the past as well and have settled on 5-wood, 8 iron and 56 wedge. I putt with the wedge

I think in most cases I would go 5 wood, 7 iron and 54 degree. Putting is the strongest part of my game but carrying it in one of these type tourneys is risky.

5 wood, 7 iron, putter played in a league that did this once a season.
  15. After giving this some thought, I would take a driver, a 7 iron snd a putter. Driver for distance off the tee. 7 iron for accuracy shots and chipping and of course my trusty putter. This would be a great format for a round.

Sounds like fun! I would probably play 3 wood, 7 iron and putter. I play most of my rounds walking with 8 clubs in a Sunday bag so dropping to 3 would be a fun (and lighter) walk.

I would go with a 19 degree rescue, a 7 iron and a wedge. the rescue woukld fill in for the putter..

We used to play this in our men’s league each summer for “Fun Night”. We could choose 3 clubs plus putter. I found that 3 hybrid, 6 iron and 9 iron were the best clubs for me. It definitely helped me be creative in shot making. As an added twist, the loser of each hole had to carry the opponents clubs on the next hole!
